Tyler Roberts-Emmanuel, 18, is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today over the death of 30-year-old Shaquille Graham.

Mr Graham was shot in Catford Broadway at about 4.30am on 10 March and died at the scene after being found with a gunshot wound by paramedics.

Mr Graham’s friend, Luke Wilson, told the Evening Standard: “I have lost my best friend. I’m devastated.

“This is so depressing for future generations. If people like Shaq are getting killed there’s no hope.

“Some people live on the edge and become dangerously involved in gangs… my friend was not one of those.”

Man, 29, stabbed to death at Walsall nightclub after ‘scuffle’ | UK News

A 29-year-old man was stabbed to death at a Walsall nightclub in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers were called to Valesha’s nightclub in the town centre just after 5am after reports that someone had been stabbed.

The man died on the way to hospital at around 6am.

Officers understand from CCTV footage that there was a “scuffle” before the stabbing.

The police said no arrests have been made at this stage.

West Midlands Police said the man’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Ade George, leading the investigation, said: “The events this morning are tragic and shocking, a man has sadly lost his life and we’ll be offering as much support as we can to his family during this deeply distressing time.

“Our priority is catching those responsible.

“While we’ve spoken to a number of people who were inside the club at the time, we still need to hear from anyone who was there and who saw, or may have filmed, what happened.”

Police are urging people who were in the nightclub at the time to come forward.

Cody Fisher: Birmingham nightclub stabbing murder suspects remanded in custody after court hearing | UK News

The two people charged with murder and affray after footballer Cody Fisher was stabbed to death in a nightclub have been remanded in custody at a court hearing.

Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22, appeared in front of two magistrates at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

The defendants, both from Birmingham, spoke only to confirm their personal details and enter not guilty pleas to a linked charge of affray during a four-minute hearing.

They were not asked to enter any plea to the murder charge.

Both defendants were ordered to re-appear before a Crown Court judge on Wednesday. A further hearing was set for January 30.

Mr Fisher was stabbed to death on the dancefloor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth shortly before 11.45pm on Boxing Day.

The 23-year-old, who played for Stratford Town FC, was approached by a group of people and stabbed while on a night out with friends.

The nightclub had its licence suspended for 28 days on Friday following accusations from West Midlands Police that there had been “serious management failings” at the venue on the night Mr Fisher died.

Birmingham city councillors said they will consider whether to close the club permanently at a full review hearing in the future.

The police’s application for the review said Mr Fisher died during “a fight on the dancefloor” and officers who attended “described a scene of chaos and evidence of drug use within the premises”.

Officers recovered a knife from the crime scene, and a post-mortem examination has confirmed that Mr Fisher died of a stab wound.

Cody Fisher: Police issue appeal over fatal stabbing of footballer in Birmingham nightclub as friend says ‘I love you forever’ in tribute | UK News

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information about the alleged murder of footballer Cody Fisher as a friend paid tribute to him, begging for him to come home.

Mr Fisher, 23, was stabbed on the dancefloor of the Crane nightclub in the Digbeth area of Birmingham just before 11.45pm on Boxing Day.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead around half an hour later. A murder investigation has been launched.

One of his friends, Jess Chatwin, paid tribute to the footballer on Twitter, in a tweet that is no longer public.

She wrote: “You didn’t deserve any of this. I’m so sorry this has happened to you my baby please come home. I love you forever Cody Fisher.”

She also wrote in her Instagram bio: “Love you forever my code”.

West Midlands Police wrote on Twitter: “Detectives have been working through the night and the investigation continues.

“We’re really pleased with the response so far, but are still appealing for people to get in touch who saw/recorded what happened.”

They included a link to submit information and photos or video footage.

In the appeal, they say no one has been arrested so far.

Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood, who is leading the investigation, said in a statement on the West Midlands Police page: “This was a young man enjoying himself with friends on a Boxing Day night out and our thoughts are with his friends and family today.

“We know there were hundreds of people in the nightclub at the time. While we’ve spoken to a number of them already, we still need to hear from anyone who was there and who witnessed or even filmed what happened.

“We believe that the victim was approached by a group of people, and was then stabbed, so we’re working hard to identify all of those involved.”

Mr Fisher’s family said in a statement: “They have broken our hearts; I have lost my best friend. My family and I are asking for privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time.”

One of Mr Fisher’s friends, who played with him last season at Bromsgrove, told Sky News: “He was genuinely one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. He’d do anything for you.”

The club released a statement and described Mr Fisher’s death as a “tragic loss”, adding: “Our sincere condolences go to the family and friends of Cody.”

They said they were “deeply shocked and saddened” by the incident and added that the club’s New Year’s Eve event has been cancelled.

Detectives are viewing CCTV from the venue and urge anyone who was in the area to get in touch. The club will remain closed while evidence is collected, and police will remain in the area.

200 bottles of alcohol confiscated to stop revellers using beauty spot ‘like Ibiza nightclub’ | UK News

Hundreds of bottles and cans of alcohol have been confiscated by police to stop drinkers using a North Yorkshire beauty spot “like an Ibiza nightclub”.

Crowds of revellers on the UK’s hottest-ever day flocked to Richmond Falls where officers seized several big sound systems and large canisters of nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas, which are sometimes used to get high.

They also took away 200 bottles of beer, cider, vodka and other spirits on Tuesday.

Some local residents were concerned about antisocial behaviour linked to hot weather, according to North Yorkshire Police.

North Yorkshire police

The force said they dispersed five men from Middlesbrough because they were behaving antisocially and arrested a youth from County Durham on suspicion of assault following a disturbance.

Inspector Martin Metcalfe said: “Residents quite rightly don’t want their town to be used like an Ibiza nightclub and we’re doing something about it.

“As temperatures soared well into the 30s yesterday and hundreds congregated at Richmond Falls, my team and I took action to prevent crime and antisocial behaviour as well as all the litter and mess this leaves behind.”

He added: “We simply will not tolerate antisocial behaviour, which is often committed by large groups who travel in from other areas and behave with no respect for the community they’re visiting. And yesterday we used public space legislation to tackle it.”

Eighteen traffic offence reports were issued to those travelling to and from the area, including for not wearing a seatbelt and for causing an obstruction when parked.

Seven barbecues were also put out because of the dry and dangerous conditions.

Police said the owners of the sound systems were able to get them back from a police station at the end of the day and “were given words of advice about using them in public places”.
