Greater Manchester Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed.
The teenager has been taken to hospital after he was injured in Tavistock Square, Harpurhey.
Officers were called at around 6.05pm this evening.
Another 14-year-old boy has been arrested.
Police added they do not believe there is any wider threat to the community.
The condition of the injured boy has not been disclosed.
Superintendent Cara Charlesworth said police are in the early stages of their investigation and called for members of the public with information to come forward.
Mason Greenwood will not play for Manchester United after an attempted rape charge against him was dropped earlier this year.
In a statement the club said: “All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.
“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
The club added that after its internal investigation “the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged”.
In 2022 a woman posted a video on social media in which she is bruised and bleeding, claiming she was attacked by the footballer.
In the video a man, said to be Greenwood, shouts at his alleged victim to “move your f****** legs up”.
The woman replies that she does not want sex.
The man responds: “I don’t give a f*** what you want, you little s***.”
The forward was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour in October 2022. He was initially arrested in January that year.
Greenwood, 21, said: “I fully accept I made mistakes… and I take my share of responsibility”.
He has always denied any criminal charges.
Greenwood called the decision to not play for the team a “collaborative” one between Manchester United and him and his family.
However, in February 2023 the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had a “duty to stop the case” following the “withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light”.
Those developments meant there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” and led to the decision by the CPS to discontinue prosecution and drop the charges against Greenwood.
The CPS has “explained” the decision “to all parties”, it said in a statement at the time.
Last week the club said they were working “through the final stages” of their internal investigation into Greenwood, having completed the “fact-finding phase”.
Richard Arnold, Manchester United’s CEO, said the club’s investigation “sought to collate as much evidence as possible to establish facts and context”.
In an open letter to fans on Monday, he said timings had been “influenced by my desire to minimise the impact of the investigation on our men’s and women’s teams, as well as our Lionesses.”
Mr Arnold said the investigation “led us to conclude that Mason did not commit the acts he was charged with.”
He said: “While I am satisfied that Mason did not commit the acts he was charged with, Mason’s accepted that he has made mistakes which he takes responsibility for.”
Protests have been held at the start of the new season, with some fans threatening to withdraw their support for United if the club reintegrates Greenwood into the team.
Among them is well-known supporter and Countdown presenter Rachel Riley.
She said she wouldn’t be able to remain a fan if Greenwood stays at United.
YouTuber KSI will fight boxer Tommy Fury in Manchester later this year.
The 30-year-old internet star, founder of Prime energy drinks, has fought in the ring before – but this will be his first bout since taking a break from the limelight after using a racist slur in an online video.
Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has already fought a YouTube celebrity this year, beating Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia in February.
The Manchester fight will take place at the AO Arena on 14 October.
KSI, real name Olajide Olatunji, has admitted it will be “the toughest fight in the influencer boxing scene”.
He has previously fought Jake Paul’s brother Logan, another YouTuber, who will fight at the same event against an unannounced opponent set to be revealed in the coming days.

Fury dismisses ‘joke’ YouTube fighters
Fury has described the upcoming bout as “easy money” and said he will knock KSI out “inside four rounds”.
The 24-year-old, who starred in Love Island in 2019, has won all nine of his professional fights – four by knockout.
He told Sky Sports earlier this year that YouTubers-turned-fighters like KSI and the Pauls “are a bit of a joke”.
“All these guys are the same to me,” he said.
“I’m used to growing up fighting against proper boxers.”

Fight won’t be professionally sanctioned
KSI, who first rose to fame playing the FIFA video game for an online audience, is a regular on the popular Sidemen YouTube channel, which has nearly 19 million subscribers.
October’s fight is being organised by his Misfits Boxing label and will be broadcast by DAZN.
However, the fight has not been sanctioned by the British boxing regulator as a professional match – and KSI lacks a professional licence in the UK.
Only one of his previous fights has been professionally sanctioned, with the others all exhibitions.
His bout with Fury has instead been sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association, but it won’t count towards either fighter’s professional record.
A record-breaking haul of counterfeit items worth an estimated £870m has been seized by police.
More than 580 tonnes of clothes, drugs, tobacco, vapes and Nitrous Oxide canisters were found in 207 shipping containers in Manchester.
Police said the “monumental” stash was the largest seizure in UK history, the largest in Europe in nearly two decades and one of the biggest globally.
It took two weeks for more than a 100 people – police, brand experts and a security company – to crack open the containers and process the fake gear.
A covert operation and intelligence led to the find on the outskirts of the Cheetham Hill area.
An investigation is now under way into the source of the goods and to arrest those involved.
Detective Inspector Christian Julien, from Operation Vulcan, said it put Greater Manchester Police “in the top three worldwide for a single seizure of counterfeit items”.
He added: “It isn’t a bargain so please be under no illusions – this type of crime is not victimless.

“Criminals are making vast amounts of money from this trade which is being funnelled into fuelling further criminality, exploitation, and misery not just in Manchester, but across the world.”
Manchester police also found more than 200 tonnes of fake goods in a storage facility in nearby Strangeways in 2021.
As well as designer goods, the discovery included factories that were making perfume using chemicals including screen wash and white spirit.
A world record crowd witnessed Chelsea win the Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.
A sold-out Wembley saw 77,390 fans cheer on the sides under the famous arch – making the attendance the highest for a domestic women’s club fixture.
The sheer number of supporters smashed the previous record of 60,739 when Barcelona Women beat Atletico Madrid Women in 2019 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
Chelsea’s Australian striker, Sam Kerr, put the Blues ahead in the second half after Manchester United had a goal ruled out for offside in the opening seconds of the game.

FA director of women’s football Baroness Sue Campbell said: “To break the world record is a massive statement and a wonderful marker as to where the women’s game has come in this country.
“A lot of credit goes to all of the players and the clubs in the Barclays Women’s Super League, the Barclays Women’s Championship and below that, but also credit to everybody that’s worked at the FA to make sure this is a reality.
“I’ve said before that we’ve come a long way, but we’ve still got an incredibly long way to go and we know that.
“But it’s another marker in the sand that the game in this country is now alive and well, flourishing and growing.”
The attendance record for a women’s match did however fall short of the 91,648 fans who watched the Women’s Champions League semi-finals last year as Barcelona beat Wolfsburg at the Nou Camp.
The news comes at a time when grassroots girls football clubs are struggling to survive despite the successes in women’s football at the highest level.
The giant American financial investor Carlyle is in talks about a major investment in Manchester United Football Club as the auction of the Premier League side nears its concluding stages.
Sky News has learnt that Carlyle is among a handful of parties which have pitched proposals to acquire a minority stake in the Old Trafford outfit.
Carlyle, which has assets of more than $370bn (£298bn) under management, ranks among the world’s largest private equity firms.
In the UK, it has owned companies including the RAC breakdown recovery service, and Addison Lee, the taxi-hire group.
One source close to the situation said this weekend that Carlyle’s interest in Manchester United was “serious”, adding that it had been engaged in discussions for some time.
Nevertheless, key details of Carlyle’s proposal, including the amount of capital it would look to deploy and the structure of a deal, have yet to be finalised.
Carlyle declined to comment.

Deadline set for final proposals
Carlyle’s interest has emerged a fortnight before a deadline set by Raine Group, the advisers handling the sale process, for final proposals to acquire or invest in Manchester United.
Sky News exclusively revealed last November the Glazer family’s plan to explore a strategic review of the club its members have controlled since 2005, kicking off a five-month battle to buy it.
Since then, dozens of parties have been rumoured or reported to have shown an interest, although few have emerged as genuinely credible bidders.
A bid deadline of 28 April has been set by The Raine Group, the merchant bank handling the sale, and which oversaw last year’s £2.5bn takeover of Chelsea by a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
The culmination of the process comes as United chase trophies in both the FA Cup, with a semi-final against Brighton and Hove Albion next weekend and the second leg of a Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla to come, with the tie finely poised at 2-2.
In February, the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat of Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final landed their first trophy for six years.

Who’s in contention?
The two parties which remain in contention to buy out the Glazers altogether are Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, a Qatari businessman who chairs the Gulf state’s Qatar Islamic Bank; and Ineos Sports, part of the petrochemicals group owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Both have reportedly tabled offers below a £6bn figure, which has been speculatively touted as the Glazers’ asking price for the club they bought in 2005 for less than £800m.
In addition, several financial investors have shown interest in becoming minority shareholders or providing some form of structured finance to the club to allow it to revamp the ageing infrastructure of its Old Trafford home and Carrington training ground.
Those which have lodged minority investment proposals with Raine include Elliott Management, the American hedge fund which until recently owned AC Milan; Ares Management Corporation, a US-based alternative investment group; and Sixth Street, which recently bought a 25% stake in the long-term La Liga broadcasting rights to FC Barcelona.
At a valuation of £5bn – below the Glazers’ rumoured asking price – a sale of Manchester United would become the biggest sports club deal in history.
It would eclipse even the $6bn (£4.8bn) takeover of the Washington Commanders NFL team agreed this week by Josh Harris, an American private equity billionaire.
Part of the lure of such a valuation resides in potential future control of the club’s lucrative broadcast rights, according to bankers, alongside a belief that arguably the world’s most famous sports brand can be commercially exploited more effectively.
On Friday, New York-listed shares in Manchester United closed down nearly 5% at $22.02, giving the club a market valuation of close to $3.8bn (£3.1bn).

Glazers told to sell ‘without further delay’
This week, Manchester United’s largest fans’ group, the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), called for the conclusion of the auction “without further delay”.
“When it was announced in November that the Glazers were undertaking a ‘strategic review’ and inviting offers to buy the club, MUST welcomed the news and went on to urge the majority owners to move ahead with the process with speed, so that any period of uncertainty was as short as possible, it said in a statement.
“Nearly five months on, we read speculation that offers from prospective buyers remain below the Glazers valuation, and that a third round of offers will now be invited.
“With Erik ten Hag having made such great progress in his first season, and with the vital summer transfer window a matter of weeks away, the news of these delays and further prolonged uncertainty are of great concern.”
The Glazers’ 18-year tenure has been dogged by controversy and protests, with the lack of a Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as manager in 2013 fuelling fans’ anger at the debt-fuelled nature of their takeover.
Fury at its participation in the ill-fated European Super League crystallised supporters’ desire for new owners to replace the Glazers, although a sale to state-affiliated Middle Eastern investors would – like Newcastle United’s Saudi-led takeover – not be without controversy.
Confirming the launch of the strategic review in November, United’s executive co-chairmen, Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer, said: “The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1bn fans and followers.
“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximizes the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future.”
The Glazers listed a minority stake in the company in New York in 2012 but retained overwhelming control through a dual-class share structure, which means they hold almost all voting rights.
For the last two years, the club has been promising to introduce a modestly sized supporter ownership scheme that would give fans shares with the same structure of voting rights as the Glazers.
The initiative has, however, yet to be launched despite a pledge to have it operational by the start of the 2021-22 season.
“Love United, Hate Glazers” has become a familiar refrain during their tenure, with supporters critical of a perceived lack of investment in the club, even as the owners have taken huge dividends as a result of its continued commercial success.
Six police officers have had misconduct claims proven against them following a watchdog’s investigation into “racist and ableist” messages.
The “abhorrent” messages, which included references to the Islamic festival of Eid, were sent to a WhatsApp chat shared by a group of officers from Greater ManchesterPolice.
The group chat – named “The Dispensables” – also contained ableist comments about people with autism, according to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The messages were discovered as part of a separate inquiry into the supply of steroids by one of the group’s members.
IOPC regional director Catherine Bates described the messages as “inexcusable and abhorrent”.
“Messages sent via WhatsApp and on any form of social media cannot be a hiding place for officers with these types of views,” she said.
“Behaviour of this nature seriously undermines public confidence in policing. It is part of our role, and for police forces themselves, to ensure that it is rooted out and those responsible are held to account for their actions.
“The outcome sends a clear message that the use and failure to challenge offensive language is wholly unacceptable.”
As part of the watchdog’s investigation into the messages, gross misconduct claims were proven against one officer, PC Rebekah Kelly, who has been dismissed from the force without notice.
Former PC Ashley Feest and PC Graham Atkinson admitted breaching the standards of behaviour, also at the level of gross misconduct.
A panel ruled that former PC Feest would have been dismissed without notice, had he not already resigned, while PC Atkinson was given a final written warning.

PC Kelly and PC Feest had also been added to the police barred list, preventing them from serving as police officers, the IOPC said.
The investigation was launched during an inquiry into another officer, PC Aaron Jones, for supplying steroids. It was during that investigation that the messages were found.
PC Jones was sacked in December 2022 after a misconduct hearing found he had offered to supply steroids in January 2019.

He had already been sentenced to a 12-month community order and 80 hours unpaid work in June 2022 after admitting two counts of offering to supply Class C drugs.
As part of the IOPC’s investigation into the WhatsApp messages, two other officers had misconduct meetings in August 2022.
One officer was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to authority, respect and courtesy; conduct; equality and diversity; and challenging and reporting improper conduct and was given a written warning.
A sixth officer was found to have failed to challenge or report improper conduct and received management advice.
Sky News has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment.
Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad has submitted a new improved bid for Manchester United ahead of the deadline for second bids, Sky News understands.
The Sheikh, chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), made a second bid for Manchester United after his representatives visited the Premier League club last week.
But Sky News understands that as many as seven other bids could be made before today’s deadline for second offers.
The current owners, the Glazer family, are selling the club but will only do so for the right price. It is believed the family have valued the club at £6bn.
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, through his chemical firm INEOS, is also expected to make a second offer for the club after visiting last week.
Kyle Walker will not face a criminal charge over an allegation that he indecently exposed himself in a bar, police have confirmed.
The Manchester City and England footballer voluntarily attended a police station for questioning on Thursday following the circulation of a video on social media.
The alleged incident was said to have happened in a bar in Wilmslow, Cheshire, after City’s 2-0 Premier League win over Newcastle earlier this month.
Cheshire Police confirmed Walker was given an out of court disposal – meaning he won’t face a criminal charge – and “the matter is now closed”.
In a statement on Friday, the force told Sky News: “On Wednesday 8 March, Cheshire Constabulary was made aware of a video circulating on social media in relation to an alleged incident at a bar in the Wilmslow area.
“Officers have now concluded their enquiries which included speaking to those directly involved.
“A 32-year-old man from Prestbury voluntarily attended a police station for questioning on 16 March.
“He has been dealt with by an out of court disposal and the matter is now closed.”
Manchester City and England footballer Kyle Walker is being investigated by police over allegations he indecently exposed himself in a Wilmslow bar.
Cheshire Police said officers were investigating the incident following the circulation of a video on social media.
The alleged incident is said to have happened in a bar on Sunday after City’s 2-0 Premier League win over Newcastle.
A statement from police said: “On Wednesday 8 March, Cheshire police was made aware of a video circulating on social media in relation to an indecent exposure which allegedly occurred in the Wilmslow area.
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are in the early stages and no arrests have been made at this time.”
The Sun released security camera footage from the pub which the papers claims shows Walker pulling down his tracksuit bottoms.
The paper reports that the 32-year-old was drinking with friends at a Manchester venue.
City, who gave their players two days off after the Newcastle victory, have declined to comment.

The PA news agency understands Walker contests the allegations and reported for training as normal after the two-day break.
Walker’s representatives have been approached for comment.
