The Crown: Prince William and Kate will be played by actors making their TV debuts, according to reports | Ents & Arts News

Netflix has reportedly picked the actors who will portray Prince William and Kate Middleton for the sixth season of The Crown.

According to Deadline, two actors will play William, as he goes from a teenager to a young adult.

Rufus Kampa will portray the prince, aged 15, while Ed McVey will assume the role of William in his late teens and early 20s, it is reported.

Meg Bellamy has been cast as his future wife, Kate, Deadline said.

The couple became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after they got married in 2011, when William was 28 and Kate 29.

All three actors are new to television roles.

Kampa will appear in episodes that show how the Royal Family coped with the death of William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, in August 1997, Deadline said.

The young actor has extensive experience on the stage after making his debut on the West End three years ago, playing roles in Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole 13 & 3/4s: The Musical and has performed in productions off-West End.

McVey graduated from Drama Centre London last year and has been an understudy in the play Camp Siegfried at the Old Vic.

His plot lines in The Crown will include William’s courtship of Kate, including how they met at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001.

Kate will be depicted by Bellamy, who is a TV newcomer having been involved in amateur dramatics and film-making.

She and Kampa were auditioned after sending self-taped videos following a casting call on social media.

The sixth season of The Crown will be filmed later this year, with season five expected to be released on Netflix in November.
